Hysteroscopy

So this afternoon I had scheduled a hysteroscopy at the doc's request after the first IVF failed.  Basically, he said he was just looking to see if there were any uterine abnormalities that would prevent implantation or give us any other trouble before we start round 2.  As expected, I have an all star uterus.  I saw it with my own two eyes- smooth, pink...no bumps or anything (apparently that is good).

I went to the doc's office at 1pm and they took me back right away.  I undressed from the waist down, and when he came in he washed my cervix with some iodine/iodide (??) solution and proceeded to thread that little camera right up there. All I know is that I am going to be HORRIBLE at this childbirth thing if I ever get to that point.  One little centimeter or two of dilation of my cervix caused me to completely panic and break out in Lamaze-style breathing.  At one point, I turned away from the monitor, only have the doc to say "wait, open your eyes, I want you to see what the inside of your uterus looks like".  On a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being the worst pain, I rate this a solid 6.   Granted, I have never been through childbirth, so I don't really have a full pain spectrum to compare it to, but  my post D&E state rated probably a 7 or 8.  The good part about this procedure was that it only lasted 15 minutes and when they were finished and I was dressed, the pain completely stopped and I was fine the rest of the day.  It's funny, I was reading about the procedure online, and some people get general or local anesthesia, or even get prescribed Valium.  Not me, I took 800mg of ibuprofen and was ready to rock.

Second set of IVF meds came today also, so we are pretty much all set with cycle #2.  Still on BCP, and Lupron starts 6/30.  I can't wait to get this show on the road!!  I have a good feeling about this one!
